The Heidelberg International
Marathon Club (HIMC) is a private, nonprofit organization
authorized by the Heidelberg military community. Membership
is open to any individual, regardless of race, creed, sex,
nationality, and physical or mental handicaps, military
status, etc. The PURPOSE of HIMC is to provide its members
an opportunity to do enter run/race-walk marathons in
Europe. HIMC fosters positive relations among its members,
the Heidelberg community and European running/race-walking
communities through training, races, and social functions.
Our MEMBERSHIP consists of military and civilian personnel
in Heidelberg and surrounding areas as well as other local
residents. Our multinational membership reflects the
international flavor of Heidelberg. Each member is issued a
HIMC membership card, which is required for trip sign-ups,
drawings and other HIMC functions. |
HIMC is governed by an EXECUTIVE COUNCIL composed of elected
and appointed officers. HIMC operates under a Constitution
and Bylaws approved by the general membership and policies
established by the Executive Council. Members
may review a copy of the Constitution and Bylaws at the membership table
at every meeting or online at the HIMC website. HIMC encourages each
member to read the Constitution and Bylaws and to provide
constructive suggestions and comments to any member of the
council.
Group
runs/race-walks are ongoing throughout the year. In addition, HIMC holds
SOCIALS bi-monthly. Meetings begin at 1900 and feature trip sign-ups,
entertainment, refreshments, equipment demos, clinics, fashion shows,
and/or official club business, all in a social setting. Meeting dates
and locations are published on HIMC website. HIMC participates in at
least but not limited to 2 international marathons a year and several
international half-marathons throughout the year. The trip/race list
reflects the desires of our members. HIMC announces the trip sign-up
schedule on-line. Trips remain open for at least 60 days prior to
race day. The HIMC Website is the official medium for notifying members
of the current social and trip schedules and changes in HIMC policies.
Each member should ensure they check the website weekly for changes and
announcements. Contributions and comments are encouraged from all
members and should be directed to the current HIMC President or the
Executive Council. |
